If California were a separate country, its economy would be the 10th largest in the world (CIA 2007 data) and would be larger than that of Spain, Mexico, Canada and South Korea. It would rank behind Italy, Brazil and France.
Its economy is the single largest in the United States. Texas is only 60% of California. So, if California is in economic trouble, it is a very bad sign for the country. Read this.
