The latest poll (read here) is most interesting.
A majority of Americans believe Al Queda will return to Afghanistan after US withdraw, yet they believe if US remains there, the war will turn into a Vietnam, meaning it will end badly and is a disaster waiting to happen.
If public opinion is turning against the war, perhaps the US could avoid a quagmire. We shall see about that.
